Our Programmes
The purpose of our programmes at Tom Ro Haven is to create meaningful change through education, healing, and compassion. Each initiative is designed to uplift both people and animals — providing rescued equines with rehabilitation and care, while offering children and communities opportunities for growth, learning, and emotional support. Together, our programmes foster empathy, resilience, and connection, helping to rebuild lives and strengthen the communities we serve.
Educational Enrichment Programs
Our beneficiaries include 140 children ranging from 5 to 18 years old from three children’s homes - Amazing Grace (Westlake), Jones Safe House (Masiphumelele) & The Homestead (Khayelitsha). Amazing Grace is hosted every Friday morning and The Homestead & Jones Safe House have two different time slots on Saturday.

Therapeutic Equine Interaction
Providing a space of healing for victims of human trafficking. beneficiaries come from a place of safety based in the Southern suburbs, for their protection and the safety of everyone at Tom Ro, haven - we do not disclose when they come to us, or the name of the place of safety.
Rehabilitation & Recovery Support
Every second Thursday, we host Liberty Home, a private addiction halfway house for individuals who have suffered from addiction and are now in their final stages of recovery.

Community Collections & Distribution
Throughout the year, whenever the need arises or in times of community crisis (fire, floods etc) we facilitate collections of non-perishables, school supplies. clothing, blankets & in some instances furniture for those who have lost all their belongings and are without basic necessities. we facilitate drop offs, collections, sorting, allocation & distribution.
Atlantis Outreach
Our most pressing outreach is our involvement in the community of Atlantis. life is difficult in this impoverished area and the lack of education is evident. while most owners love their horses most have little to no knowledge of proper horse care, access to vaccinations, sterilisation & medical attention resulting in horses living in shocking conditions. we provide education, tack, medication, feed, roughage, and supplements. We will be launching an immunocontraceptive drive soon.

Extended Outreaches
As we expand our successful outreaches & further identify areas of need we are working on additional resources, services & education programs for those in need who do not have access to mainstream services.
Our beneficiaries
Tom Ro Haven for Equines & Children is dedicated to making a profound impact, extending its reach far beyond the immediate beneficiaries of horses and children. Through a diverse range of programs, the organization actively fosters positive change within the community and beyond.
These initiatives include enriching Educational Enrichment Programs designed to inspire learning and growth, alongside Therapeutic Equine Interaction which provides invaluable emotional and physical support. The Haven also offers crucial Rehabilitation & Recovery Support, helping both equines and individuals on their journey to healing. Furthermore, our commitment to the wider community is evident in their Community Collections & Distribution efforts, as well as vital Atlantis Outreach & extended outreaches into impoverished areas, addressing needs that are often just the tip of the iceberg of their daily philanthropic endeavors.
